Trucking this time of year tends to have a lot of down time. The busiest time of the year (Christmas season) has just passed and the consumption of everything is down, down, down. So sometimes we have to sit around awhile waiting for a load. When our economy was roaring when I was trucking before, this was rarely a problem. It’s a different story now, unfortunately.
I took advantage of this down time and did some walking! Sunday I walked a total of 4.34 miles. I was desperate for some good Mexican food, so my driver mentor and I went hunting for it. We found a little Mexican greasy spoon that was perfect. Their chili rellenos were sooo good!
Monday I walked about 10 miles. When we got off the I-15 to come into Fontana, California where our truck terminal is, we passed a big mall. I decided that I would walk there. As it turned out, that mall (Ontario Mills) ended up being four miles away. It sure didn’t seem that far when we passed it in the truck!
So I wandered around the mall and generally had a nice time exploring. I got some new sunglasses, too. My old ones were literally falling apart.
My apologies if the photos all seem randomly placed. I’m doing this post with my phone. Once I can get to a computer, I’ll try and caption them in a way that makes sense. Suffice it to say, though, that all of these things were things I saw on my walk yesterday.
