My goal starting May 7, 2012 is to walk 2000 miles before the end of the year.     That means I need to average 8.4 miles a day EVERY day between now and New Year’s eve.  Whoa.

I figure this will help get and keep me prepared for the walk across America I am postponing until next year AND it will give me more time to raise money for the trip.

All figures below are in miles, unless otherwise noted.

Total for December:  somewhere in the neighborhood of 39.48 miles, not counting the days I forgot to write down.  This makes my total for the year 1070.6 miles or so.

Total for September: 163.85 miles.  Not too bad, but I would have liked more.  Training whacked me out for a few days and toward the end of the month after doing my marathon (with the exception of a couple of decent days), I didn’t feel like doing much.  But it’s a new month, and time to break out and try for a new monthly record!  So far I’ve walked 802.67 miles!

Total for July: 130.74 miles.  That makes my grand total mileage 446.89 miles!  Wow.  This means I’ve been averaging approximately 5.19 miles per day, which is pretty short the 8+ miles I need to be walking every day.  Sigh.  I’ve got to step (no pun intended) it up!  This means I need to be walking an average of 10.15 miles EVERY DAY if I’m going to make my goal of 2000 miles by the end of the year.  Hmmmm.  Things aren’t looking so good.

Total for June: 152.17 miles.  Plus May’s mileage, that means I’ve walked 316.15 miles.  I’m disappointed with June’s mileage.  I walked six less days in May and yet I earned more miles last month than this one.  I need to kick it back up and get on a schedule, dangit!  Only 1,683.85 miles to go this year.  And I’ve got 184 days to do it.  That breaks down to 9.151 miles per day.  Oy.  I’ve seriously got to step it up this summer!
